Desiree Hartsock and Chris Siegfried

First Dance Lessons Song: “Love and Affection” by Matt White

Desiree Hartsock and Chirs Siegfried got engaged on the Season 9 finale of The Bacholorette. 20 weeks later they tied the knot in early 2015 on the Oceanside Wayfarers Chapel in California. The couple celebrated their wedding day with 130 guests.

Desiree, in addition to being a reality star, is a bridal boutique designer. She chose soft and elegant details for the look of her wedding. She wore a fit-and-flare ivory lace gown over blush tulle that she co-designed with Maggie Sottero. The groom matched her nicely in a charcoal suit and blush-colored tie. Desiree’s bouquet included a soft color palette of ivory and soft pinks for her bouquet.

Considering the soft and beautiful nature of their wedding details, I would have given Desiree and Christ first dance lessons to match their style. Their first dance song, “Love and Affection” invites the couple to do an elegant foxtrot. Chris could hold a strong frame to sweep Desiree across their dance floor. The two would glide seamlessly through their first dance. Desiree’s gown would flare beautifully at the bottom with every spin. The song’s lyrics, “It’s just you and me against the world…” pays a nice tribute to the sentiment they must feel for each other. An around-world-dip would make the perfect accompaniment to their wedding dance.

Gene Simmons and Shannon Tweed

First Dance Lessons Song: “At Last” by Etta James

Kiss superstar Gene Simmons and model and actress Shannon Tweed were together 28 years before they tied the knot! This month marks their 7-year anniversary as they tied the knot on October 1st, 2011. Gene and Shannon got married at the Beverley Hills Hotel in front of 400 guests. Shannon described their wedding reception as a giant jam session. The couple’s daughter Sophie served as a maid of honor and sang for their first dance. Their son Nick served as a groomsmen and also took the stage to perform.

Gene and Shannon’s song choice may have been a play on how long it took for Gene to say, “I do.” The couple chose Etta Jame’s “At Last” for their very first dance together as a married couple.

I get the feeling that Gene isn’t the biggest fan of romantic dancing. It may also be safe to guess that most of his dance experience has involved head banging and not much leading a partner. I would enjoy giving the couple first dance lessons to help the sync up. First dance lessons would help the couple move smoothly together. I would teach Gene how to lead Sharron through some beautiful simple turns in the moment. This would give Gene some freedom within the dance. I think they would enjoy keeping the majority of the dance simple and flowing. Then, at the end their dance the couple would surprise their guests with some big power moves! Major dips out of nowhere would be a fun energetic ending for this famous couple.

Hilary Duff and Mike Comrie

First Dance Lessons Song: “Stand by Me” Ben E. King

Actress and singer Hilary Duff married hockey player Mike Comrie August 14th, 2010. While they unfortunately divorced in 2016, the couple happily co-parent their son Luca and have a great friendship. For their wedding, the private pair chose the exclusive San Ysidro Ranch in Santa Barbara. The celebration included a candlelit ceremony. Wedding planner Mindy Weiss organized the nuptials and ensured that everything ran smoothly for their night.

“Stand by Me” is such a classic and a great song choice for this couple. They still support each other to this day. The old school tune makes for a great rumba. First dance lessons would have given this pair the chance to incorporate some really fun moves. Since Mike is an athlete, I would have enjoyed giving him first dance lessons that included power lifts and tricks! Hillary’s Vera Wang gown would have looked beautiful with multiple traveling spins. With first dance lessons we could have created a fun, cute, and playful dance.
