Pro-Am Dance Competition
Well, let me first say that I’m playing catch-up with this blog: I’ve been meaning to start blogging again for months, but a busy schedule keeps getting in the way. Busy or not, here I go:
These photos are from a recent Pro-Am Ballroom and Latin dance competition in Orange County, California. My student Don, competed for the first time ever! He competed in a whopping 6 dances: Cha Cha, Rumba, Swing, Waltz, Tango and Foxtrot. And although he was uncontested in most of the competition heats, he did have some competition and earned first place marks. 🙂 More importantly though, I was so proud of all of his hard work leading up to the competition and the courage it took for him to try something new and out of his normal element. Competing isn’t easy: not only do you have to remember all of your dance steps, timing, and leading…you have to do it with a smile on your face with 6 judges (and all of the other people in the audience) watching. I’m so proud of you Don and looking forward to more performances with you in the future!
