Orange County Wedding Dance Success – Michelle & Albert
Michelle and Albert first joined our award wining wedding dance studio on May 7th to seek help planning their first dance. Their big day would arrive in two months and they were looking forward to dancing together for the first time. Michelle was a big fan of the show, “Dancing with the Stars” and felt inspired by one of the competing teams’ performances. In fact, she chose to use the song “I Get to Love You” after seeing it in on “Dancing with the Stars” for her and Albert’s wedding dance song. Michelle and Albert were looking forward to creating a romantic first dance for their big day and I was happy to help!
Michelle and Albert decided on doing a package of wedding dance lessons that they would use for themselves as well as to get guidance for their parent dances. Michelle and Albert got started with their first dance lessons first. They wanted to get the foundation of their dance down before brining their parents into the studio. I started teaching Michelle and Albert some really fun wedding dance moves that would flow beautifully with the waltz song they had chosen. Michelle and Albert not only learned how to do a waltz box step, but also learned how to rotate it and travel with it so they could glide across their 8′ by 10′ dance floor. They also learned more intricate patterns including alternating turns and a face to back progression that opened up their dance frame for their guests.
As Michelle and Albert continued to come in for lessons, they had enough moves to start putting them together to match their first dance song. They knew that they wanted their dance to be planned so that they could maximize their wedding dance and feel confident on the dance floor. Michelle did a graceful underarm turn into frame at the beginning of their song before they would begin waltzing with beautiful turns and spins interlaced within their wedding dance choreography.
I had the pleasure of working with Albert and his mom to help prepare them for the mother-son dance. I was happy to teach them some dance basics and a fun turn to make sure they had a good game plan performing in front of their guests. Albert was able to apply the leading skills he learned from doing his first dance to leading his mom. I also was happy to work with Michelle and her dad for the father-daughter dance. We planned a nice entrance, some dance moves, and a double turn to dip finale for their father-daughter dance.
On July 9th, 2016 Michelle and Albert got married at the Vellano Country Club in Chino Hills. They performed their dance seamlessly to Ruelle’s “I Get to Love You” across their wedding dance floor. I was proud that this self-described “two-left feet” couple had evolved their dance skills to performing a beautiful wedding dance for all of their family and friends. Their parent dances were equally memorable and executed with success! Congratulations to Michelle and Albert on their wedding day and wedding dance!
